Take the time to master spins:
Take the time to master spins, jukes, and other moves to break tackles. If you do, you'll find yourself gaining yardage where you previously would have been tackled for a loss.
linebacker guarding:
Be sure to scan the line of scrimmage before taking the snap on offense. Often you'll discover a mismatch, such as a linebacker guarding a tight end, that you can exploit to your advantage.
Always check your team's:
Always check your team's Depth Chart before starting a game to ensure that the right guys are playing at the right positions. This is especially important when it comes to return teams--the computer might have the incorrect guy returning kicks or a star player in the risky business of playing kick coverage.
Defense wondering:
Stay with the running game unless you've fallen so far behind that you must pass. Even unsuccessful runs help keep the defense wondering what you might call next
